Responsible Gambling

Baccarat.global is an educational publisher. It doesn't operate a casino and doesn't accept bets or deposits. This page exists because gambling is part of what the school teaches about, and we take seriously the responsibility that comes with that.

If you're gambling, or considering gambling, the information below is worth knowing. If you're already struggling with gambling, the helpline numbers at the bottom of this page are the right first step.

What responsible gambling looks like

Gambling is entertainment for most people who do it. It costs money, as entertainment does. The expected cost is predictable if you understand the house edge, which is what this school teaches. Most people who gamble set a budget, spend it, and stop.

The difficulty arises when gambling stops being a choice made on your own terms and becomes something you feel unable to control. This can happen to anyone. It's not a failure of character or intelligence. It's a well-documented pattern of behaviour that has specific warning signs and effective support pathways.

Warning signs

The following behaviours are associated with gambling harm. They're more significant in combination than individually, but any one of them is worth taking seriously.

Chasing losses: playing again specifically to recover money lost in a previous session, rather than for enjoyment. This is one of the earliest and most reliable warning signs.

Gambling with money you can't afford to lose: when the gambling budget is drawn from money intended for rent, food, utilities, or other commitments.

Borrowing to gamble: taking a loan, or borrowing from friends or family, to fund gambling.

Gambling to escape: using gambling to avoid thinking about other problems, stress, or anxiety.

Hiding gambling activity: concealing from people close to you how much time or money you've spent gambling.

Feeling unable to stop: continuing past your planned session limit, past the money you intended to spend, or past the time you planned to stop.

If you recognise yourself in two or more of these, speaking to someone would be a reasonable next step. The helplines below are confidential.

What you can do right now

If you gamble online at a UK-licensed casino, the following tools are available in your account settings:

Deposit limits: set a daily, weekly, or monthly cap on how much you can deposit. Increases to the limit require a waiting period of at least 24 hours. Decreases take effect immediately. Setting a deposit limit before you play, rather than after a bad session, is the most effective use of this tool.

Session time limits: the casino will end or flag your session when your chosen time is reached.

Reality checks: notifications during play showing how long you've been playing and how much you've wagered in the session.

Self-exclusion from a single site: most casinos call this a cooling-off period or take-a-break option. You can exclude yourself from a specific site for a defined period.

GAMSTOP self-exclusion: GAMSTOP excludes you from all UK Gambling Commission-licensed online gambling sites simultaneously. The minimum exclusion period is six months. It takes effect within 24 hours of registration. It's free. If you want to stop online gambling across all UKGC-licensed operators at once, GAMSTOP is the single most effective action available.

For land-based play, the Hippodrome Casino, Les Ambassadeurs Club, and Aspers all participate in the National Self-Exclusion Scheme (NSES), which allows you to self-exclude from specific premises.

If someone close to you is affected

Gambling harm affects the people around a gambler as well as the gambler themselves. If someone you care about is showing the warning signs above, GamCare's helpline and website have specific resources for friends and family. You don't need to wait for the person to reach out themselves to seek support for yourself.

A note on this site

Baccarat.global doesn't provide gambling services. The free-play simulator uses virtual currency with no cash value. The daily challenge shoe is an educational and entertainment feature. Nothing on this site constitutes an invitation to gamble with real money.

If you or someone you know needs help, please use the resources above. These numbers are free. They're confidential. They work.
